International Day of Older Persons

Observed annually on October 1st, the International Day of Older Persons is a global UN initiative that raises awareness about the opportunities and challenges of aging. It honors the contributions of older adults and advocates for policies that guarantee their dignity, independence, and rights.

The observance was officially established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1990 to recognize demographic shifts worldwide and address the needs of an aging global population.
